What is unique about Speak Agent?

Speak Agent is the only English language development (ELD) platform for K-12 math and science with evidence of effectiveness at a district-wide scale. We customize our Math+Language℠ and Science+Language℠ programs to supplement your curriculum and to fit your needs.

Which students benefit from Speak Agent?
All learners can benefit from Speak Agent! Academic language is no one's home language. Strong content language skills are needed in all math and science content areas for evaluating information, expressing logical reasoning, explaining solution steps, arguing from evidence, communicating conclusions—language is embedded in all of the math and science practices! 
How do students learn academic language in Speak Agent?

Students learn using research-based instructional strategies that support Speak Agent's academic language learning model. Our programs support independent practice, teacher-led instruction, and small group work.

Is it research-based?

Yes! Feel free to explore the learning science, the research-based strategies, and the empirical evidence. You can also see how Speak Agent meets ESSA evidence criteria and qualifies for federal grant funding.

 

Do you provide personalized learning?

Yes! Speak Agent provides personalization tools both for teachers and for students.

 

Do you incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into your platform?

No, we do not. We believe in fostering Human Intelligence (HI) in order to build 21st century skills such as creativity, communication, collaboration, reasoning, and problem solving. And a firm command of the relevant content language is foundational to all of those skills!

What technology do I need? 

Web Version: Speak Agent runs in a web browser on any computer, Chromebook, or tablet with an internet connection. There is no need to download or install any software.

Mobile Version: Students may access their assigned activities on iPhones® and iPads®.

How do I use Clever or ClassLink SSO with Speak Agent?

Speak Agent supports single sign-on (SSO) using Clever and ClassLink for both our web and mobile app versions. First, your district must enable a connection to Speak Agent. Next, login using your district's Clever portal. Then find our app by searching for "Speak Agent" and clicking on our app logo:

What is the right dosage for Speak Agent?

The recommended dosage is typically 60 minutes per week, ideally spread across several days of the week. The recommendation varies by grade level and curriculum, however. More detailed information is provided as part of your district's professional development.
