Speak Agent launches new online tool for teaching academic program to English Language Learners

(Seattle, WA, 3/24/17) – Today Speak Agent, Inc. announced general availability of its academic language learning software at the TESOL International Expo in Seattle. Speak Agent provides ESL teachers and students with a unique online tool for acquiring academic vocabulary while saving preparation time. The platform is completely customizable: Teachers can choose the specific vocabulary and contextual content that their students need. They can rapidly create game-based lessons and assign them to individual students or entire classes. And, teachers can monitor student progress. Speak Agent helps students excel in any elementary subject area, from reading and math to science and social studies.

“As a former ESL teacher, I saw a lack of materials available for teachers to use with their English Language Learners," said Ben Grimley, co-founder and CEO. "We built Speak Agent to help ELLs acquire the academic vocabulary needed to succeed in school. There's a huge achievement gap for ELL and LEP students. Speak Agent uses a combination of effective pedagogy and interactive games to engage students and to help them to bridge that gap."

The company is currently offering its web-based software for free to all teachers as part of its "basic" tier. The free access enables teachers to use the software with all of their students with no expiration date, but it is limited to practice activities. The story-based games, reporting, and other premium features are reserved for schools and districts that purchase the "Pro" version. Speak Agent works on tablets, laptops, Chromebooks, desktops, and interactive whiteboards.
